We are constantly cleaning and wiping down things in our home, especially with a 1 and a 2 yr old in the house. The idea of the babies touching uncleaned floors , counters and etc makes me squirm. These little ones put EVERYTHING in their mouths regardless of my crazy “don’t eat” surge. So needless to say we go through a lot of cleaners and there’s nothing worst than going to wipe down the tables and counters, toys, and cabinets to only find out there is no more cleaner.

I love making homemade lemonade and have been looking for ideas to use the peelings because we all know there is a use for just about everything! I’m always looking for ways to make our household cleaner and we all know that lemons are great for cleaning and refreshing things.

So I decided to take the peelings and put them in distilled white vinegar because I had just bought the vinegar and vinegar is a great multipurpose item is well.

I took a 16 ounce jar (old spaghetti jar) and filled it with lemon peels and poured vinegar on top. There is no measuring necessary just fill jar to the top.

a little bit swirly

I allowed it to sit for 2 weeks or so in the cabinet {so the kids (or wont get too curious}. Then took it out to transfer it into a spray bottle, which at the time was an old cleaner spray bottle that was under the cabinet.

It had a nice lemony scent but the vinegar was very much still dominate. So I decided to add some essential oils to help with cleaning power and scent.

I used lemon essential oil (12 drops) to give a boost of lemony scent.

I used lavender essential oil (8 drops) because my husband loves that scent.

And I used citronella essential oil (15 drops) because not only do it smell nice, it is also known as an antibacterial, antidepressant, deodorant, fungicidal, and insect repellent.

My husband absolutely loved it!
