So, I wasn’t quiet sure how to title this post because I’ve never told you about my other love affair with a drink called “Kombucha”. I’m sure some have heard of it and some haven’t.
What Is Kombucha?
So for those of you who have no idea what I’m referring to, it’s a fermented drink with tea made with a SCOBY, tea with sugar, and kombucha starter from a previous batch (I used multigreen GTs organic kombucha) with tremendous health benefits. SCOBY stands for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast. It is sometimes called a mushroom. Kombucha contains b-vitamins, enzymes, probiotics, as well as live bacteria and yeast.
There are a ton of health benefits so instead of listing them all, I’m going to name some of the reasons I enjoy drinking it.
Please be aware that although Kombucha is said to help a lot of ailments, I would not suggest replacing any medications with the hope or thought that this will heal or cure you. Please talk to your doctor or nutritionist before coming off of any medication.
1. Detoxes the body– It is rich in many of the enzymes and bacterial acids that your body uses to detox your system.
2. Natural Energy boost– This actually goes back to number 1. When your body detoxifies it gets rid of the toxins and waste, which in return gives you a natural energy boosts. It also helps increase levels of blood hemoglobin and improve oxygen flow to tissues.
3. It has high levels of antioxidants.
4. Immunity– Kombucha is especially high in vitamin C.
5. Weight Loss– it’s high in acetic acid and polyphenols which have been proven to increase weight loss.
6. Anemia– converts iron compounds from plant sources and help the body to absorb more iron.
7. Helps headaches & dizziness
8. Helps Joint Problems– It’s loaded with glucosamines, which increase synovial hyaluronic acid production, which supports the preservation of collagen and prevents arthritic pain.
9. Its also said to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, etc. which I struggle with.
So, if your interested in trying kombucha, you should be able to grab it at your local market if they have a natural aisle. Also make sure you do your own research before trying it. If you try it for the first time, please do not try to drink the whole bottle in one sitting. A small amount a day to get your body use to it.
